I was inspired to write this song after accompanying my Veteran father on a week long Pilgrimage to visit World War Two Cemeteries around Monte Cassino in Italy, where allied soldiers from many countries were laid to rest or remembered. I was part of a group of eighty Veterans, family and friends. Each cemetery visit ended with a short Service of Remembrance. I witnessed many moving scenes. For most Veterans and relatives, this was their first and for many their last visit. I was asked to make a video record of re-enactments of various people laying a wreath on the graves of their loved ones. I also shot a general video record of the full trip and everyone received copies. While editing the video, I watched these moving scenes over and over again. I hope it becomes popular with Remembrance Day Service organisers.
